Wrexham and Chelsea are enjoying contrasting campaigns on the pitch but they share one trait off it.
The National League side are closing in on a return to the Football League after a sensational season and need a maximum of five points from their final three matches to seal the title. Chelsea, on the other hand, have struggled in the Premier League and are on the brink of a Champions League exit.
Both clubs are under American ownership with Todd Boehly having taken over at Stamford Bridge. Wrexham are owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and the pair have raised the profile of the Welsh club significantly since arriving.

A second season of their documentary series is due for release this year and the pair have invested in the playing squad. Reynolds and McElhenney are also regular visitors to the Wrexham dressing room, something Boehly drew criticism for following the Premier League defeat to Brighton at the weekend.
But Wrexham executive director Humphrey Ker, who also said he would be “surprised” if the club does not feature somehow in the next Deadpool film due for release in 2024, revealed that is commonplace at the Racecourse and believes it is helping the club succeed.
“We like to do things a bit differently at Wrexham,” Ker told talkSPORT. “I heard about Todd Boehly going into the Chelsea dressing room, and the one thing we’ve tried to really foster at Wrexham is the relationship between the players, the management and the ownership – that we’re all in this together pulling in the same direction.
“Rob and Ryan are never out of the dressing room, to be honest, when they are over (from the United States). They wait until after the game, but they still have this giddy schoolboy thing that they can’t believe that they are allowed in there.
“I know that kind of connection is one they are really proud of and we are really proud of. We hope it makes it a fun place to come and play and watch and generally a fun place to work, which has got to be a good thing.”
