Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney add Conor McGregor to Wrexham family with new venture

UFC fighter Conor McGregor has announced he will be joining forces with National League side Wrexham to help support the Autism charity YourSpace.

The mixed martial artist announced on Sunday that he has agreed a deal with the non-league club’s owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to sell his Forged Irish Stout at the Racecourse Ground.

McGregor said in a tweet: “Taking my @ForgedStout tank into the absolute magic that is happening at @Wrexham_AFC, and in aid of helping a great charity 'Your Space' that raises awareness and support for autism.

"Drop by and show love if you are in town. Try out the game changer @ForgedStout."

The beverage will be sold from this coming Tuesday when the Red Dragons host Yeovil Town in a crunch tie. The link-up with McGregor is just the latest big name to be associated with the club. You can read all about the famous faces who now support Wrexham here.

The charity, which is based in Llay, supports children with autism and their families in Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Cheshire, Shropshire and the surrounding areas.

Club top-goal scorer Paul Mullin revealed back in April that he had become a patron of the charity, saying in a tweet: “Really enjoyed kicking off my partnership with the Charity Your Space last week, meeting the kids that benefit from the continuous support and the staff that make it all happen. Looking forward to working together in the future as Your Space mark their 10th anniversary."

Mullin, whose son Abie was diagnosed with autism back in January, has won plaudits for his work in raising awareness of the condition.

During the Red Dragons' FA Cup tie against Sheffield United the striker wore a pair of boots dedicated to his son. And in the same game he wore noise-cancelling headphones while walking onto the pitch with club mascot Harry, who also has autism.

Wrexham are currently one point clear of rivals Notts County with a game in hand at the top of the table. They go into the game against Yeovil knowing that a win would bring them even closer to first return back to the Football League since 2008.
