Jon Dahl Tomasson has confirmed Blackburn have tabled a bid for Hibs defender Ryan Porteous. But the Rovers boss admits they are now playing a waiting game to discover if their six-figure offer is enough to prise the Scotland international to Ewood Park.
Record Sport exclusively revealed this week that Blackburn were to ramp up their early interest in Porteous by putting money on the table. It follows Udinese having a bid booted out by Hibs earlier this month.
French side Toulouse are also eyeing a swoop for the 23-year-old who is out of contract in the summer while Championship sides Watford, Stoke, Sunderland and Hull are also keen. But it’s Blackburn who have made the latest move. Tomasson said: “We have made an offer, yes. We’re still waiting for the situation (to resolve). In an ideal world you get all the players into the building, but it’s quite tough to attract all the players you want when the competition is extremely difficult.
“I know that the recruitment and director of football Gregg (Broughton) are trying their best in that way. Let's see if he decides to go to us because there is also a money issue in that way.”
Porteous turned down a new contract with his boyhood club earlier this season. Hibs remain hopeful the defender will still be available to boss Lee Johnson for Sunday's Scottish Cup clash with Hearts.
