Ryan Garcia reveals he had MOLE in camp leaking information to Gervonta Davis ahead of defeat

Ryan Garcia has claimed there was a “mole” in his camp ahead of his defeat to Gervonta Davis in Las Vegas.

Two of the biggest names in boxing took to the ring on Saturday night for their much-anticipated mega-fight at the T-Mobile Arena, with Davis moving to 29-0 as Garcia was beaten for the first time as a professional.

The 24-year-old was dropped in the second round by a counter-left, before he took a knee in the seventh after being caught with a body shot and he was unable to beat the count and get back to his feet.

The manner of the victory was particularly interesting considering some of Davis’ comments in the build-up to the fight, when he alluded to the fact Garcia had been injured by a body shot in sparring.

“He got hurt to the body before,” Davis told reporters. “He thinks I don’t know that. It wasn’t in no fight.

“Ask him. Let him know that I know he got hurt to the body. Word gets around real fast.”

In a video posted on social media after the fight, Mongolian fighter Erdenebat Tsendbaatar confirmed he had been one of Garcia’s sparring partners, and claimed that he had hurt him to the body.

“Hey King Ryan, in sparring I injured you with a body shot,” he said. “Now you lost to Tank. I am sorry. Are you okay?”

Garcia laughed off suggestions ahead of the fight that information from his camp was being leaked to Davis, stating there had been no issues and that he was not worried about his weight or the rehydration clause.

However, he has now taken to Instagram in response to Tsendbaatar’s video and admitted he was shocked that there was a mole in his team, though insisted he was not using it as an excuse for his defeat.

Garcia posted: “Actually sad I had a mole in my camp. Like wtf, that’s crazy. But thank God it’s brought to light now.

“Also, didn’t mean that to come off as an excuse or anything. I lost, period. I’ll come back. But I’m just shocked that part of my team crossed me, someone close to me. Unbelievable.

“But it’s a testimony that you must be aware of anyone.”

Tsendbaatar has since stated he was not the mole, claiming he does not like Davis and that he watched the fight wanting Garcia to win.
