Magic Johnson, part-owner of the Commanders, made an appearance on Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football Kickoff pregame show, during which he and Ryan Fitzpatrick had a hilarious exchange.
Fitzpatrick, a big fan of the former Lakers superstar, opened his suit jacket to reveal he was wearing a Johnson jersey, which he asked the 64-year-old to sign.
Johnson happily agreed to sign the jersey, while Fitzpatrick was still wearing it no less, before the former NFL quarterback pulled out a duffle bag full of items he wanted the five-time NBA champion to put his signature on.
“This is Fitz-Magic, and he wants to ask if you wouldn’t mind signing this jersey,” said host Charissa Thompson. “He was very excited, Magic. On the call he said, ‘We get to talk to Magic Johnson?’”

In addition to his jersey, Fitzpatrick pulled out a basketball, a Lakers hat, a toy football, and multiple photos, prompting Thompson to joke that he was raising money for college for his seven children.
“He’s got seven kids. He’s got to pay for their college,” joked Thompson.
While Fitzpatrick is a well known name among NFL circles, the former quarterback couldn’t hide his inner fanboy when it came to sharing the desk with Johnson on Thursday night.
