Ryan Day’s Savage Response to Lou Holtz After Ohio State Win Over Notre Dame Had Fans Losing It

In a game that proved to be one of the best of the early stages in college football this season, No. 6 Ohio State went on the road and took down No. 9 Notre Dame in a movie-esque last-second fashion. The Buckeyes scored with one second remaining to pull off the 17-14 victory in a game that felt like virtually everyone had an opinion on.

But one of those opinions prior to kickoff that went viral came from former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz, due to comments made on The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN Friday. In these comments, Holtz not only said that Notre Dame “is a better football team than Ohio State,” but opted to call out Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day as well.

"You look at coach Day, he has lost to Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and Michigan twice and everybody beats him because they’re more physical than Ohio State,” Holtz said.

It’s apparent Day took these comments personally, and responded back by calling out Holtz in the postgame interview.

“I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now,” Day said on NBC. “What he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here. We’re proud to be from Ohio. It’s always been Ohio against the world, and it’ll continue to be Ohio against the world. But I’ll tell you what: I love those kids. We’ve got a tough team.”

The fiery reaction and pointed comments at Holtz had the college football world in a bit of a frenzy, with plenty of emotion brewing off a wild finish also.
