Ryan Day makes it clear Ohio State will continue to feed Jeremiah Smith

Ohio State football has had some of the best receivers in college history come through its program.

From Michael Thomas to Garrett Wilson to Marvin Harrison Jr., the last decade has seen the Buckeyes continually churn out the best of the best at the position.

They have another generational talent on their hands with No. 1 overall recruit Jeremiah Smith, one season removed from arguably another generational talent, Marvin Harrison Jr.

Smith, who was the first true freshman in program to earn the “Iron Buckeye,” caught two touchdowns in his college debut and has numerous difficult grabs as well. He was involved early and often, leading the team in receiving yards.

Smith ended with 92 yards and two touchdowns, leading the team with six receptions. With a new quarterback in Columbus, Smith seems like he’s going to be the most-trustworthy weapon for quarterback Will Howard.

As for what head coach Ryan Day thinks, he heaped praise on Smith as well and implied that he’s going to see quite the involvement in the offense moving forward.

Smith is quick and strong and clearly already primed to take over college football. He’ll have all the opportunity moving forward as well as the Buckeyes should be a hefty favorite against in Week 2, taking on Western Michigan.

Having beaten Akron 52-6 at home in Week 1, Ohio State should look better in the coming weeks which may help Smith’s numbers look even better.
