Ruud Gullit salutes 'superpower' Rangers as Dutch icon goes giddy over Gio van Bronckhorst

Dutch football icon Ruud Gullit has lavished praise on Giovanni van Bronckhorst for 'awakening a Scottish superpower'.

Its all systems go to Seville after the Dutchman masterminded Rangers ' route to the Europa League Final.

The Ibrox side travel to Spain next week to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the showpiece final in Seville.

And former AC Milan icon Gullit, who also played and managed Chelsea and Feyenoord, is thrilled with the job van Bronckhorst has done in Glasgow.

And he'd love for a Dutch double in the Europa League and Europa Conference League with Arne Slot's Feyenoord due to play Jose Mourinho's Roma in the final.

Gullit said: "It's incredible what Arne Slot has done at Feyenoord and what he's managed there, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has also done it at Rangers.

"He has awakened the Scottish superpower internationally with a place in the Europa League Final.

"The club has regained its pride and Gio deserves all the credit for that. Don't forget that he was also very successful at Feyenoord with five prizes in four years, including winning the league.

"So Arne and Gio deserve to be complimented for reaching the final, but at the same time, they are only fun if they win the Europa League or Conference League.

"I often say to players to remember one thing when you're kicking off a final. In your career, you don't get much chance to play a final, let alone win it.

"Only the winner's name is engraved on the cup, everything else is forgotten a year later."
