Willie Harvey has targeted winning the Scottish Junior Cup this season, to make up for their early exit from the senior competition.
Glens lost to Kilwinning Rangers in their first-round replay after working hard to be included in the senior Scottish Cup.
So Harvey is looking for his side to get past Second Division side Greenock and clash with either Tayport or Ardeer Thistle in the third round.
He said: “I would rather it was another league game to keep that momentum going after beating Rossvale 3-0 on Saturday, but it’s the Scottish Junior Cup.
“We want to progress in this after going out of the senior cup as quickly as we did.
“We would have hoped to have gone a wee bit further than the first round, and we were really disappointed about that.
“So we’ll go into Saturday now, take this game as seriously as we possibly can, and try to get as far in this cup as you can.”
Harvey added: “You want to do well in every competition, and we’ve still got the South Challenge Cup – which is almost like the West of Scotland League’s ‘Scottish Cup’ – and we’re happy to be back in the Scottish Junior FA’s cup.
“We came back into it this season because last year there was too much going in, we were too involved, and we felt it was a competition too far.
“But this season we’re really glad to be in it, so we want to go as far as we can.
“Like every club, we want to win it, so we’ll go and see where it takes us.”
Harvey says he doesn’t know too much about opponents Greenock, who sit fifth in the West of Scotland League Second Division table, but will take them seriously in a bid to get stuck into that third round.
He said: “That’s a big game to look forward to, these are the games you want to play in.
“Tayport and Ardeer won’t be too happy about drawing us, either, so we’ll see how it goes, but first of all we have to get by Greenock, who are always a difficult game.
“We’ve not played Greenock for a wee while.
“We have not been in the same league as them for a while, we haven’t drawn them in the cups either, but they’re capable of losing goals and capable of scoring goals.
“I would like to think that if we turn up and perform the way we can, we should be strong enough to beat them.”
