Just last week, the Russo Brothers confirmed their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with Robert Downey Jr in the upcoming films 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars'. This announcement comes at a time when the brothers are set to commence work on their spy series 'Citadel' season 2, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in lead roles.
Despite their initial commitment to the spy thriller, rumours are rife that their return to the MCU is set to have a significant impact on the web series. The Russo brothers, who have been instrumental in shaping the MCU, with blockbusters like 'Avengers: Endgame', were also set to play a key role in 'Citadel' season 2, with Joe Russo initially committed to directing all episodes. However, according to a report by Puck, their MCU comeback has led to a shift in priorities.
