Britain is racing at “wartime pace” to build a new and more lethal Royal Navy force to hunt Russian submarines and combat the growing underseas threat from Vladimir Putin.
Warships, submarines, patrol aircraft, as well as surface and underwater drones, will be deployed as part of the Atlantic Bastion defence initiative which will stretch from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge to the Norwegian Sea.
