A Ukrainian court has sentenced a Russian soldier to life in prison after the first war crimes trial since the Kremlin’s invasion on February 24.
Vadim Shyshimarin has been jailed for life after pleading guilty on May 18 to killing a civilian in Ukraine at the first war crime trial of Vladimir Putin's invasion.
Sergeant Shishimarin, 21, shot a 62-year-old Ukrainian man in the head through an open car window in the northeastern Sumy region on February 28, four days into the invasion.
