Recent video footage and still images circulating on Russian social media have raised concerns about the treatment of suspects allegedly involved in the terror attack on a concert hall near Moscow. One video depicts a suspect, Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, being restrained on the ground while an interrogator appears to cut off part of his ear, resulting in Rachabalizoda appearing in court with a heavily bandaged ear.
Additionally, a pro-Kremlin Telegram channel, The Grey Zone, shared a still photograph suggesting the electrocution of another detained suspect. Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of Russian state propaganda network RT, shared a video showing the interrogation of a suspect named Shamsidin Fariduni, who appeared visibly distressed and shaken during questioning. Fariduni later appeared in court with a bruised face.
When questioned about the apparent use of violence during interrogations, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to provide a comment. The lack of official response has raised further concerns about the treatment of suspects in this high-profile case.
