Russian police arrest anti-Kremlin protesters after rare display of dissent

Police
  • Around 60 protesters were detained by police in Moscow after an authorised rally escalated into anti-Kremlin dissent.
  • Demonstrators chanted anti-government slogans and called for the release of political prisoners during the event organised by rights group OVD-Info.
  • German chancellor Friedrich Merz announced a €1bn military aid package for Ukraine during a visit to Kyiv , including long-range strike weapons and combat drones.
  • Berlin pledged an additional €350m to help repair and protect Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter.
  • Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that Russian forces struck the capital's North Bridge on Sunday following an earlier attack on Saturday.
