A Russian Navy warship carried out a live-fire exercise roughly 45 miles south of Plymouth on Monday, the same day Andy Burnham was appointed UK prime minister, prompting the Royal Navy to reposition one of its vessels before closely monitoring the drill.
The exercise took place in international waters after the Russian frigate Neustrashimy announced its intention to open fire and requested that the British warship tracking it move to a safe distance.
