Russian Government Condemns Use Of Exploding Pagers In Lebanon

The Russian government has expressed concern over the recent use of exploding pagers in Lebanon to target members of the Hezbollah terrorist group. The detonation of over 3,000 pagers connected to the Iran-backed organization resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals in Lebanon.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the potential escalation of tensions due to these actions, particularly in the context of heightened conflict along the Lebanese-Israeli border. Peskov warned that such irresponsible acts could lead to dangerous consequences and provoke further escalation.

A senior U.S. official has indicated that Israel was responsible for the explosions, with additional blasts reported in Beirut. Lebanon's Health Minister reported severe injuries, including eye injuries and amputations, among the wounded.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed a commitment to enhancing cooperation with Russia in the coming months. Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Iran and Russia to mitigate the impact of sanctions and ensure continuous development of their partnership.
