A Su-30 Russian warplane crashed into a house today in Russia, killing two people.
The casualties were believed to be the pilots as earlier reports suggest they had suffocated in the cockpit during the test flight.
The plane fell nose-first into a suburb of Irkutsk city while on a test flight from the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, with video footage catching the moment of the explosion into a residential house in Siberia.
Three children were said to have been evacuated from the two-storey building hit by the out-of-control Su-30 in the Novo-Lenino micro-district of Irkutsk.
The news comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks to rush new military firepower to the war front.
Three children were said to have been evacuated from the two-storey building hit by the out-of-control Su-30 in the Novo-Lenino micro-district of Irkutsk.
The Su-30, a twin-engine, two-seat supermaneuverable fighter aircraft, took off at 5.47 pm local time and then stopped communicating.
The reason why they might have suffocated is unclear as the plane was reportedly not carrying ammunition.
Russia has seen at least 11 military plane crashes during the war but they are unconnected with the conflict.
Irkutsk region governor Igor Kobzev was at the scene and said flames were seen burning on the ground, along with wreckage from the aircraft.
One account said that there were two Su-30SMs on a test flight and while one went down, the second continued to fly, failing to make contact for 20 minutes.
The second plane took to the air again and approached the plane that was not communicating.
The pilots saw the crew sitting with their heads down, presumably suffocated.
When the fuel ran out, the plane came down near Novo-Lenino, killing the crew.
A criminal probe has been started into the disaster initiated by the Russian Investigative Committee.
