Satellite images from the last two days reveal the presence of a significant trench dug across the countryside near the city of Lgov in Russia’s Kursk region. This defensive measure seems to be a response to the ongoing Ukrainian military cross-border incursion, which has persisted for over a week.
The trench, captured in four images provided by satellite imagery provider Maxar, is located near the town of Selektsionnyi, just a few kilometers west of Lgov. Lgov itself is situated approximately 60 kilometers (about 37 miles) from the Ukrainian border by road, with the deepest Ukrainian troop penetration estimated to be around 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the city.
Notably, the trench has been dug in close proximity to a major highway and rail line, indicating a strategic placement to potentially impede any further advancements from the Ukrainian side.
