FRANCE 24 spoke to Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov, co-laureate of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize and editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, an independent media outlet that was forced to suspend publication in Russia following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. At the 30th annual Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Press Freedom Awards, Muratov described the muzzling of the press in Russia as a pillar of Kremlin propaganda. He added that while Moscow can "destroy" Ukraine's infrastructure, "it will never be able to conquer it".
