Russia Warns of Consequences, But Burnham Says UK Will Stand by Ukraine 'All the Way'

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has rejected Russian threats against the UK, pledging continued support for Ukraine as Britain and its European allies move to strengthen Kyiv's long-range strike capabilities.

Burnham committed during his first overseas visit as prime minister, travelling to Kyiv on 24 August 2026 for Ukraine's 35th Independence Day. He met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and joined other European leaders for a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.
