The Russian leadership’s claims that the battle in Ukraine echoes the Soviet fight against the Nazis in the Second World War is losing credibility among the public, according to the latest briefing from the Ministry of Defence.

President Vladimir Putin has continually peddled the line to the Russian people that Ukraine is in the grip of Nazis intent on waging war on their country.
