Russia's insistence that their prized Black Sea flagship Moskva was sunk by a fire and not by Ukrainian missiles has been exposed as a lie by mums and dads of sailors on board.
They made harrowing phone calls home to reveal the full horror of being hit by missiles.
One mother said: ”My son said that the cruiser was hit from the land, on the Ukrainian side. The fire wouldn’t have occurred just like that.
“He said ‘Mummy, I never thought that in a peaceful, basically, time I would get into such a mess.’
“I won’t even tell you the details of what I saw. This is so scary.
“Some are dead, some are wounded, some are missing.
“My son called when they were given phones. Forty died. Several are missing. A lot are wounded, because there were such explosions.”
Dmitriy Shkrebets, said: “My conscript son is not listed among the dead and wounded and is missing in action. An enlisted man not supposed to take part in combat.”
He said he would dedicate his life to “ensuring the truth wins in this story and the scum don’t cover up this terrible tragedy”.
The cruiser sank on Thursday after a blaze and an explosion Ukraine has claimed was caused by one of their missiles.
Everyone on board, including a reported 510 Russian sailors, was killed in the incident which is still shrouded in mystery.
Now a satellite image seems to mark the exact location of the ship after it was targeted. The cruiser is shown seemingly engulfed in yellow flames.
Anton Gerashchenko of the Kyiv Interior Ministry claimed "the explosion was so strong that the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet sank in a matter of minutes."
He insisted this came from sources in Sevastopol where the Russian Black Sea Fleet is based.
