Russia reports young child dead in Ukrainian strike on naval base

  • Ukrainian forces launched a massive overnight attack on Russia's Novorossiysk naval base using drones, missiles, and unmanned boats, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed.
  • Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that at least two people were killed in the strikes, including an eight-year-old child.
  • Two of Russia's largest grain terminals located at the Black Sea port suspended operations following the wave of drone strikes.
  • The attack followed a recent agreement by Ukraine to pause drone strikes on specific oil tankers using the port after a request from US Vice President JD Vance.
  • Washington had expressed concerns that Ukrainian strikes on the terminal were destabilising global oil markets and impacting American businesses.
