The Kremlin has withdrawn some troops from southern Ukraine and back into Russia as it tries to fend off an incursion by Ukrainian troops, a Kyiv military official has claimed.
Kyiv launched a surprise charge onto Russian soil on August 6, and by Tuesday had already encompassed some 1,000sq km of Russian territory, according to claims by the Ukrainian army.
