The disinformation campaign primarily focuses on two key areas, according to the official.
Firstly, Russia is capitalizing on Ukraine's challenging withdrawal from the eastern city of Avdivka, which represented a significant setback for the country. Secondly, Russia is exploiting the postponement of Ukraine's presidential election, originally scheduled for this spring, due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
US officials have noted that Russian intelligence services, along with official channels such as Putin's spokesperson and non-official pro-Russia groups on social media, are actively involved in spreading this disinformation.
