Russia's deployment of more than 100,000 troops near the border of Ukraine means it is now in a position to invade "at no notice", according to a UK government minister.
Armed forces minister James Heappey urged British nationals in Ukraine to leave immediately by commercial means while they still can.
With other Nato allies issuing the same advice to their citizens, the shift represented a heightening of concerns in the West that Russia could mount an invasion.
