The Kremlin will expand restrictions against British politicians over what Russia calls a “wave of anti-Russian hysteria”, it has been reported.
The Russian Tass news agency claimed the country’s foreign ministry said on Saturday that more politicians will be added to a blacklist, with other reports suggesting those on the list include Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, and Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.
According to Tass, the department said in a statement: “This list will be expanded shortly by including more of British politicians and members of the Parliament in it, who keep inflaming the anti-Russian hysteria, push the collective West towards the use of the language of threats with Moscow and are engaged in a dishonest encouragement of Kyiv’s Neo-Nazist regime.”
The Ministry of Defence has this morning provided an intelligence update on Ukraine.
“President Putin’s speech on Tuesday highlighted his continued interest in the Donbas where Russia is striking Ukrainian forces in preparation for a renewed offensive.
“Urban centres have faced repeated indiscriminate attacks from Russia throughout the conflict. The towns of Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka are likely to be Russian targets for similar levels of violence.
“The combination of widespread missile and artillery strikes and efforts to concentrate forces for an offensive represents a reversion to traditional Russian military doctrine.
“However, this will require significant force levels. Ukraine’s continued defence of Mariupol is currently tying down significant numbers of Russian troops and equipment.”
