Russia Attacks Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure, Ukrainian Authorities Report

City without electricity after critical civil infrastructure was hit by Russian missile attacks in Kharkiv

Ukrainian authorities reported that Russia launched attacks on at least nine regions, including the capital Kyiv, targeting critical infrastructure overnight into Friday. Ukraine's air defenses successfully intercepted and shot down 48 out of 53 attack drones and all five cruise missiles launched by Russia, according to Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.

The intercepted drones and missiles were targeted in the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi. Despite the successful defense, casualties were reported in various regions. One person died and four were injured in the eastern Donetsk region, while four others were injured in Kherson and six in Dnipropetrovsk.

In the Kyiv region, an industrial facility caught fire as a result of the attacks. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, and emergency responders are currently working to extinguish the fire, as confirmed by the head of the Kyiv region military administration.
