To say it’s been a tumultuous two years for Russell Wilson in Denver would be an understatement.
We broke it down for you recently — 30 games, an 11-19 record in games he played, some terrible stats and nothing to show for it. And now, Wilson is getting cut by the franchise with a bunch of years and lots of money left on his contract. He has the chance to join a contender and win another ring, but who knows how much he has left in the tank?
But there’s a penalty to the Broncos that comes along with this move: Dead cap money. Wilson is SO BAD that Denver will pay a record amount of dead cap money over two years: a whopping $85 MILLION!
By releasing Russell Wilson, the Broncos will take on an NFL-record $85 MILLION in dead cap.
It's the largest dead cap hit in league history—bigger than the previous two records combined. pic.twitter.com/Z64uAk7DCv

That’s proof of just how bad he’s been.
