Russell Wilson slammed in devastating 'atrocity' rant over NFL star's season

Russell Wilson has been slammed as a 'devastating atrocity' after performing poorly since his big trade from the Seattle Seahawks this off-season. Thee 33-year-old quarterback had reportedly wanted out of Seattle after 10 years with the Seahawks, as he and head coach Pete Carroll had a difference in philosophies.

Wilson had been hugely successful with the Seahawks, with no other quarterback in NFL history winning more games than he had in his first 10 seasons (112, tied with Peyton Manning).

However, he was unhappy with his situation and wanted to play in a more pass-heavy offensive system, and would be granted that opportunity when Seattle accepted a trade from the Denver Broncos, joining new head coach Nathaniel Hackett - Aaron Rodgers' former offensive coordinator.

There had been much optimism around the new-look Broncos heading into the season, with many expecting them to be a Super Bowl contender. Six games into the season, though, they sit with a 2-4 record with coach Hackett's job reportedly on the line should the losing run continue.

The Broncos have been one of the worse offenses in the league, scoring the least points in the entire league and only throwing for a woeful five touchdowns in six games.

Although it has been coach Hackett who has been on the end of most criticism, it seems analysts are now turning to Wilson with questions being asked of where his form has gone from his time with the Seahawks.

Speaking on ESPN First Take, host Stephen A. Smith said: "When you look at Russell Wilson, that is an atrocity that has taken place in the mile high city. The only damn thing that is good about Denver is that Ciara (his superstar R&B singer wife) is there with him... that's it.

"Football wise, this brother is not getting it done. He looks horrible. You have a 2-4 record and completing only 58% of his passes. His receivers can ball, Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy can ball. His offensive line is giving him enough protection.

"It looks like Pete Carroll was protecting him all those years in Seattle. Wilson has looked bad, not many people at quarterback have looked worse!".

To rub the disappointment in for Denver fans, their first-round draft pick will go to the team who they traded Wilson from, with Seattle slated to get a top-10 pick in next years class.

The Seahawks have greatly improved since trading Wilson away, with many expecting them to struggle this year, as they sit with a 4-3 record whilst starting Wilson's former back-up Geno Smith.
