Russell Wilson’s famous mantra during his two seasons with the Denver Broncos swept the nation.
“Broncos country, let’s ride,” he repeated during a promotional video shoot in 2022, a clip that almost immediately went viral. Wilson also closed out most of his press conferences in Denver with that phrase.
Now wearing the Pittsburgh Steelers’ black and gold after signing a one-year contract earlier this week, Wilson didn’t go as bold with his catchphrase when addressing Steelers fans for the first time.
“What’s up Steeler Nation? Just signed, baby,” Wilson said on a video posted to social media. “Fired up to wear the black and gold. Here we go.”

Not quite as memorable.
Wilson won’t face much competition for the Steelers’ starting quarterback job in 2024 after Pittsburgh traded former first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
Wilson will take over an offense that ranked 25th in total yards (304.3) and 28th in points (17.9) per game in the NFL last season. Wilson will be working with new Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who was fired by the Atlanta Falcons in January after three seasons as the head coach.
The Steelers are slated to play Denver at Mile High Stadium during the 2024 regular season. Maybe Wilson will have crafted his new Pittsburgh tagline by then.
