Russell Wilson had somewhat of a messy breakup with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, but it seems that he still has fond appreciation for former head coach Pete Carroll.
The Seahawks announced Wednesday that Carroll will step down from his head coach position and will transition to an advisory role with the team.
Carroll, 72, coached in Seattle from 2010-2023, winning one Super Bowl. Wilson played under Carroll from 2012-2021. After news broke Wednesday about Carroll stepping down, Wilson wrote this on his Twitter/X page:

Wilson was at his offseason home near San Diego, California when the news broke and he flew to Seattle to surprise Carroll at his coaching retirement party that evening, according to Bob Condotta of the The Seattle Times.

Wilson and Carroll won a Super Bowl together in 2013. The quarterback now faces an uncertain future with the Denver Broncos going into the 2024 offseason.
