Russell Brand in court with rape and sexual assault trial set to begin

  • Russell Brand has arrived at Southwark Crown Court alongside his wife, Laura Gallacher, for the start of his trial on rape and sexual assault charges.
  • The 51-year-old comedian denies three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault against six women between 1999 and 2009.
  • Specific allegations include raping a woman in a hotel room at a Labour Party conference, as well as sexually assaulting TV and radio station workers.
  • Jury selection is due to begin on Monday before High Court judge Mr Justice Bennathan, with the trial expected to last up to 10 weeks.
  • Brand, who is currently on bail, has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
