Rumer Willis has joined the cast of director Rohit Karn Batra’s upcoming gun crisis drama, The Gun on Second Street. The independent film, which already features Poppy Delevingne and Tom Arnold, centers around a tragic incident involving two Pittsburgh police partners responding to a domestic violence call on Second Street.
The storyline unfolds as officer TJ Meadows III accidentally shoots and kills his partner, officer Kevin Cooper, during a violent altercation, using his backup gun. Years later, Meadows, no longer a cop and grappling with trauma, returns to Pittsburgh and reconnects with Kevin’s widow, Kacie.
In the film, Willis will portray the character of Ashley Pullman, Meadows' former partner and the mother of their son. The Gun on Second Street is being produced by Guy J. Louthan of Ransom Films, with Rikin Shah serving as the executive producer.
Aside from her role in this project, Rumer Willis is also set to appear in the upcoming feature film Broken Trail, where she stars alongside Gbenga Akinnagbe and Jeff Fahey. Her diverse screen credits include notable appearances in Fox’s Empire, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 9-1-1, Celebrity Show-Off, and Pretty Little Liars.
Willis has showcased her acting talent in various films such as Hostage, The House Bunny, and Sorority Row. Notably, she emerged as the winner of season 20 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars in 2015 and made her Broadway debut in Chicago as Roxie Hart.
Director Rohit Karn Batra, known for his work on the crime drama Line of Descent starring Brendan Fraser, has written, directed, and co-produced The Gun on Second Street. His accolades include winning the Jury Prize for best short film at the Palm Beach International Film Festival for his work on Roundabout.
