Rugby league star Jack Johnson opened up about being forced to have a testicle removed due to a training ground incident.
A video of his pre-match interview on Sunday, July 31, has been posted on TikTok by football and rugby league presenter Emma Louise Jones, who simply captioned the video "Interviews I didn't think I'd be doing!" Her video has racked up more than 700,000 views in just a few hours, with the rugby player detailing his ordeal just a few days after it unfolded.
Johnson is asked by presenter Jones to elaborate on his injury. Johnson goes on to explain that he sustained a "bit of a freak injury at training". The Newcastle Thunder man actually ended up losing one of his testicles after it ruptured at training and had to be surgically removed.
He took to social media when the injury occurred to candidly update fans on his situation, saying: "Not my greatest Thursday ever, with the old testicle exploding at training. Had it removed. Will be back soon just a little bit lighter."
Johnson approached the whole scenario with humour, saying the one he lost was his "favourite one".
"I absolutely love your sense of humour," the presenter added. "It's actually great that you are being so honest about it because it's very easy to feel embarrassed about this, but it's wholly admirable that you are so honest".
Johnson had all the jokes lined up for his interview, adding with a grin on his face: "It has been a bit of a testy one for us, I'm not going to lie. We've not been on the ball as much as we should have been at times."
Thunder would go on to fall short against York City Knights in an 18-27 score line. With 10 minutes to go, there were just two points in it, but after a clever attacking kick from the Knights, they scored, putting some daylight between the two sides.
