A rugby player is on the floor with a gaping wound spurting blood from his head as the opposition are speeding away to level the scores. What does he do in that situation? Make a try-saving tackle, of course.
Spain Sevens skipper Francisco Hernandez completed this feat of dedication to prevent a certain try at the Sydney Sevens in a match between Japan and Spain.
In what RugbyPass have called "one of the wildest things you will see on a rugby field", the move starts out with Kazuma Nakagawa making a sharp break from his own 22 after a sidestep opens the door between himself and the whitewash.
As the speedster darts off from ensuing Spain players, Hernandez decides that protecting Spain's seven-point lead is more important than his own well-being.
It left the commentator in awe as the blood-soaked Spaniard pushed away the medic and clattered into Nakagawa.
The match ended 14-7 to Spain, and with Hernandez having already scored a try in the game, his contribution to the 2020 victory was immeasurable.
