Rudi Skacel has dropped the biggest hint yet that he'll have a part to play in Gary Locke 's testimonial later this month - revealing he has a "big game coming up."
The Czech playmaker is one of the all-time greats at Hearts, scoring 48 goals across two spells for the men in maroon. His final involvement was in the famous 5-1 Scottish Cup final win over Hibs, where he scored twice and assisted another to cement himself as a legend.
Later this month the club will come together to pay tribute to another club legend as Gary Locke is being given a testimonial for 20 years of service as a player, coach and ambassador. It was announced they will face Stoke City at Tynecastle on Saturday, July 23, and the Hearts squad list is yet to be announced for the celebratory showdown in Gorgie.
But one man who looks set to play some part now is Skacel, who posted a revealing update to his Instagram story. The 42-year-old has been retired for three years, but it looks like he will pull his boots back on, alongside the maroon jersey.
He posted a snap showing he was in the gym, captioned "training time." The image also showed the Hearts badge, accompanied by #biggamecomingup.
The Jambos have just landed back in the UK after a warm weather training camp in Spain. They faced Europa FC from Gibraltar over there, running out 4-0 winners, and Robbie Neilson spoke to Record Sport's Ross Pilcher about how the trip went.
“It was the first pre-season game, nobody got injured and everybody got through it so I’m pleased," he said. "We got the new guys integrated into the squad and the fitness levels went up so it’s been a great trip.”
The friendlies now come thick and fast for Hearts. East Fife and Spartans provide the opposition on Tuesday and Wednesday night respectively, for which the Jambos will split their squad.
