It’s the rudest restaurant experience that foodies are going nuts for - and now it’s coming to Ayr.
Get ready to feel the wrath of Karen as Karen’s Diner goes on tour, visiting Central Park, Ayr across three dates next month.
Unwelcoming staff and horrendous customer service will have diners in fits of laughter as the viral dining experience makes a pop-up appearance at a number of locations across the UK.
Originally launched in Australia in 2021, Karen’s Diner is an interactive diner renowned for its tongue-in-cheek customer service.
Its name is inspired by the internet meme which uses the name Karen to describe a complaining customer who typically demands to ‘speak to the manager’.
Karen’s Diner shot to fame after viral videos showcased its unique theatrical dining experience, with deliberately rude waiting staff hurling hilarious insults at diners.
It’s all for laughs though as customers are encouraged to join in the fun and unleash their ‘inner Karen’.
But for the love of Karen don’t ask for a refund!
Central Park Ayr Co-owner Tracy Anne McGregor, who helped transform the old Boswells bar into a vibrant new American diner in the town, said: “We are so excited.
“After a few weeks of sorting out details, we can announce that Karen’s Diner is coming to Ayr to Central Park on April 28, 29, and 30.
“This is the first of hopefully a number of dates during the year as they look to use Central Park as their West of Scotland Karen’s Diner events.”
Ryan Blackburn, managing director of Karen’s On Tour, said: “Once you’re in a Karen’s, you’ll not be thinking about strikes, Brexit or the cost of living, you’ll just be wanting to survive!
“Customers would need to expect plenty of sass, great food, and a sprinkle of bad attitudey, so don’t expect special treatment as it’s all about Karen, and she won’t be taking any nonsense.
“All will be able to have fun and wind the staff up to unleash their inner Karen and see their full Karen potential.”
Ayr’s Karen’s can expect a full menu with ‘In your face’ burgers, sweet treats, thick shakes and, of course, the Karen inspired cocktail menu. There is even some Karen’s merch on offer.
Vegetarians, vegans and non-drinkers will all be catered for, but don’t expect Karen to be happy about it.
