The Oscars viewers have slammed Hugh Grant after an awkward red carpet interview with Ashley Graham. Fans called the 62-year-old "rude" and criticised his curt responses during the "painful" exchange, with some suggesting he was deliberately being difficult.
Hugh reunited with his Four Weddings And A Funeral co-star Andie MacDowell - almost 30 years since the release of Richard Curtis' hit 1994 romantic comedy - during the 95th Academy Awards ceremony last night (March 12). They presented the award for best production design, which was won by Netflix film All Quiet On The Western Front.
However, he drew the ire of viewers prior to the ceremony as Ashley interviewed Hollywood stars as they arrived. Hugh appeared to be disinterested as the model asked him a series of questions about the Oscars, his outfit and a recent film role - offering little in response, as reported by The Mirror.

Ashley began by asking him what his favourite thing about the Oscars was. After a long pause, Hugh replied: "Well... it's fascinating. The whole of humanity is here - it's vanity fair."
She followed up by asking him what he was most excited to see at the ceremony, such as a particular film or star winning. He responded that he wasn't looking forward to anything in particular.
Ashley then asked him what he was wearing, to which he simply replied: "Just my suit" before adding, after being prompted: "I can't remember by tailor". The interviewer then changed subject to new thriller movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, directed by Rian Johnson, which Hugh had a brief role in.
She asked: "What does it feel like to be in Glass Onion? It was such an amazing film, I really loved it - I love a thriller. How fun is it to shoot something like that?' Hugh bluntly replied: "Well I'm barely in it, I'm in it for about three seconds."
Ashley added: "Yeah but still, you showed up and you had fun right?" as he replied: "Erm... almost." As she turned to the camera to wrap up the interview, Hugh was seen looking around and raised his eyebrows as he began to walk away.
Fans took to Twitter to slam the actor. April (@ReignOfApril) shared: "I don’t understand this from Hugh Grant. If you don’t want to be interviewed, don’t take the mic, smile politely and keep walking. Kudos to @ashleygraham for trying repeatedly to get something interesting out of him."
Elizabeth Vargas tweeted: "Ok that interview just now with Hugh Grant was painful". Britney (@officBritneylee) posted: "Hugh Grant was mad rude on the Oscars carpet for no reason".
Jamie B. Golden tweeted: "Ashley Graham deserves an honorary Oscar for putting up with Hugh Grant. Don't walk the carpet if you don't walk to talk about THE ACTUAL OSCARS." James Teller posted: "Is Hugh Grant trying to give the worst interview possible?"
Trevor Scott commented: "Wow @ashleygraham just earned her paycheck on that interview with Hugh Grant. She was gracious and persistent through his obvious desire to not be there. Why agree to an interview if you have no interest in participating??
Alexa (@Alexa21396778) added: "Why was Hugh grant so rude?? Shout out to Ashley for holding up the conversation. / getting through that." Bonnie J Preston replied writing: "He was so awful I had to mute the TV".
Bevy Smith typed: "Ok, Hugh Grant be nice to Ashley Grant, he's giving her nothing, I don't like that, he's being shady & making her work way too hard". Lance Ulanoff said: "And the Oscar for the guy who totally doesn't want to be there goes to Hugh Grant."
