A left-leaning union says it withdrew its support for rebel Labor MP Ed Husic's motion on Palestine at the ALP conference because it would have allowed "pro-Israel" forces to derail the debate.
The Maritime Union of Australia said it made the last-minute decision to stymie the rare chance for debate in an otherwise stage-managed conference because allowing the vote to go ahead would have "pulled back progress even further".
