Liverpool reportedly made an attempt to sign Wolves star Ruben Neves but had the offer rejected by the player himself, it has been claimed.
The Reds were linked with a host of new midfielders during the summer transfer window but it was only on deadline day that Jurgen Klopp strengthened that area of the pitch when he opted to bring in Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus for the season.
Neves was one of those midfielders who was said to be interesting Liverpool before the arrival of Arthur. There was an expectation that the Portugal international would leave Molineux this summer.

And now, according to Spanish news outlet Sport , the Reds, along with rivals Manchester United, contacted Neves’ representatives in an attempt to strike a deal. However, the report states that the 25-year-old ‘showed little willingness to negotiate’ with either club and, as a result, their moves never got off the ground.
This is because, it has been claimed, Neves has already decided on his next club - Barcelona.
The report goes on to say that the player is willing to wait for Barca, who are said to be unable to complete a deal until next summer due to financial reasons.
