RTE viewers have been praising Tommy Tiernan for his heartfelt interview with Des Bishop tonight.
The pair discussed the many ups and downs of life and people have been praising them for setting aside their comedic nature for the in-depth chat.
Viewers have been commenting on Tiernan's impeccable interviewing skills and Bishop for his honesty when speaking about his mother and his past relationships.
OnMarch 19, 2019, Des's mother Eileen died at the age of 77 after a long illness.
Des revealed this his mother struggled with anxiety for many years, and talked about how this affected his childhood.
He then revealed that before she passed away, Eileen opened up to him about her struggles.
"She confided in me quite a lot, in the end, about how she felt that she wasn't a good mother," he said.
“It was like, a lot of wasted time, you know? And the toughest thing for me has been that I don't think I gave her enough of an idea that actually, the job she did was fine.
“You can't get everything right. I wish, in a way, that I had let her know before she went that it wasn’t as bad as she maybe had in her head.”
