RTE’s leading chat show hosts Ryan Tubridy and Tommy Tiernan are neck and neck as the comedian has managed to claw back viewers.
The funnyman’s popular Saturday night show drew in 406,000 viewers at the weekend, and racked up a further 36,000 later on plus one - bringing the total of the night to 442,000.
Figures obtained by Irish Mirror from RTE revealed that Friday night’s Late Late Show Valentine’s special pulled in 408,000, and a further 14,000 on plus one, bringing the figure to 422,000.
It comes as the Friday night show has been notably decreasing in ratings in recent weeks after host Tubridy had been enjoying highs of over half a million people tuning in earlier in the year.
Tubs ratings last week saw 455,000 tuned in to see Derry’s Brooke Scullion chosen to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy.
Navan comic Tommy, who previously pulled in over half a million to his show, seems to be back on track, after the series got off to a rocky start with less than 400,000 tuning in recent weeks.
Elsewhere, Dancing with the Stars proved the biggest winner of the weekend, with 490,000 tuning in to the emotional episode on Sunday that saw the celebrities pay tribute to someone special in their lives.
