RTE's Ray D'Arcy found himself in hot water with English singer Holly Johnson over a sensitive interview question.
The music legend was speaking on the Ray D'Arcy Show on Wednesday afternoon about his upcoming gig at the Forever Young Festival in Palmerstown Estate this weekend.
The duo were talking about what it was like to be an openly gay musician back in the day when Ray brought up the television miniseries, It's a Sin, which explores the horrors of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the UK in the 80s - Dublin Live reports.
He asked if Holly had watched it, to which Holly said: "I did but I found it very difficult to watch.
"I found it very emotionally moving, and I wouldn’t say it was a pleasant experience for me to be honest with you. It was a struggle to watch it."
Ray asked if the Frankie Goes to Hollywood frontman had seen friends of his die from AIDS.
Holly replied: "Oh, absolutely. I visited people in hospital in 1983 and 1984 in London and I saw some terrible nights really.
"It was shocking. The way they were treated wasn’t great. Food left outside the door of the hospital room and things like that. There was a lot of fear in the air."
When Ray pressed on asking about Holly's own experiences living with HIV, an annoyed Holly said: "Yes, but I’m not here to talk about my health. I’m here to talk about the Forever Young festival so stop acting the b****cks!"
Ray laughed the comment off before adding: "I'm genuinely interested in your story."
