RTE's Jennifer Zamparelli says having tubes tied after her Caesarean section was a 'hasty decision'

RTE Presenter and radio DJ Jennifer Zamparelli has said she made the decision to undergo female tubal sterilisation "hastily".

The Star said she chose to have the permanent contraceptive procedure after having a Caesarean Section and has considered growing her family since.

However, Jennifer said her husband Lau is perfectly happy with their family of four.

"Lau is very happy with two. He doesn't want to rock the boat, and he is probably right," she said.

Jennifer said she felt fortunate that she was able to have children as she "was quite late getting pregnant and having babies", having given birth to her second child Enzo (3) at the age of 37 and Florence (6), aged 34.

She explained that she decided to undergo the contraceptive procedure after her sister, who is based in the USA, had the operation - RSVP Live reports.

"So it was all very 'oh yeah, this is what we will do and this is easy," she told the Sunday Independent Life Magazine.

"I had it while I was having Enzo. So while I had a C-section, I had my tubes tied. I don't think I put a lot of thought into it at the time. I didn't, and that's me.

"That's my problem with these things. I'm very hasty and I make quick decisions. Generally I don't think things through. I don't think 'well what are the consequences of this in five years time? In five years time, in ten years time,' I'm just like 'what is good for me?'

"I was so sick in my pregnancy, to the point where I could barely get out of bed or go to work. I was like, there is no way I could do this again.

"But, of course, when you have the child, you forget about all that. You think, 'I could definitely go again.' It was just one of those things. I think I made a really hasty decision with it."

"You can have IVF and it is not completely final, but it's a long road to go back."

Jennifer shared that she would have loved to have one more child if she could.

"I felt very fortunate to have two healthy babies. You kind of think Jesus, just be happy with what you have."

"But I would have loved to have had another one," she said.
