Daithi O'Se has lost his taste after being struck down with Covid-19 over the weekend.
The Irish Mirror revealed on Monday that the star would be missing from the RTE Today Show after testing positive.
And in an update to fans on his Instagram story, the host said he has a number of symptoms but is hoping to be back on air next week.
Daithi said: "So good people, at the weekend I tested positive for Covid-19, after avoiding it for almost two years.
"I feel fluey and achy, and I have pains, I can't taste anything, or smell much but other than that I'm fine.
"I'll be back on the Today Show hopefully next week."
And it emerged on Monday that Sinead Kennedy has become the second host to be forced off air this week due to Covid.
Speaking on Sunday, an RTE spokesperson confirmed the news to Irish Mirror and said Sinead would be hosting the who alongside former Winning Streak host Derek Mooney on Monday and Tuesday, before Maura Derrane took over from Wednesday alongside Marty Morrissey on Thursday and Friday.
They said: "Daithi O'Se will be absent from Today on RTÉ One this week as he has tested positive for Covid-19.
“Derek Mooney will be in studio on Monday and Tuesday with Sinead Kennedy and on Wednesday with Maura Derrane.
“Marty Morrissey will co-present with Maura this coming Thursday and Friday".
However, Cork native Sinead was absent when the show went to air on Monday afternoon, with Maura jumping in to cover her slot at the last minute.
Maura said: "I am not usually here but Daithi and Sinead are both self-isolating."
RTE confirmed the news to Irish Mirror on Monday, adding: "Sinéad Kennedy is currently self-isolating."
