Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has ruled out making face coverings mandatory again as they ‘won’t make a huge difference’.
He appeared on RTE Prime Time on Thursday night and said that mandating face masks would only make a small difference as people are most likely to catch Covid in places such as at home, where face coverings are not worn.
The Tanaiste said that it was "no longer appropriate" for Government to enforce a rule on wearing masks in certain settings as we are no longer in a public health emergency.
