The heatwave is all fun and games until it comes to trying to sleep at night.
Your pyjamas are soon drenched in sweat and no matter how many times you turn in an attempt to cool yourself, nothing seems to work. And with temperatures possibly reaching 33 degrees this weekend, we’re in for a few hot nights.
But RTE's Joanna Donnelly has the perfect advice on how to get to sleep in the heat. She said: “To get a better sleep in the coming nights, CLOSE the windows in your bedroom during the day and pull the curtains. Keep the warm air out. #Heatwave2022 .”
The Met Eireann woman added that opening windows "works most of the time but not in the next few days as the air will be heating up. Close the windows in the day time to keep the hot air out. Open at night".
Meanwhile, TikTok user, keats67, shared the perfect way to keep cool during the summer nights.
They posted a video where they could be seen filling a hot water bottle with cold water from the tap. They titled the video: “How to sleep with no A/C in the heat wave”.
They placed a hot water bottle in their freezer. They took it out and placed it in a tea towel before putting it under their bed sheets to keep the temperature nice and cool during the night.
One person said: “Have a summer bottle and a winter bottle”, although another person warned “It can weaken the rubber and the last thing you want is it bursting with boiling water in it.”
Other TikTok users use their own tips in the comments with one person suggesting: “Put a bath towel in the freezer too! Once it’s frozen throw it between your blanket and sheet” and a second user commented: “Thrift alternative: save any cool packs that come with food deliveries and use those”.
