A 99-year-old woman had eggs hurled at her during a shopping trip to Ikea in Ballymun.
The disgusting attack happened in broad daylight at about 3:30pm on Friday, while the near-centenarian was waiting for a bus home
She had been coming home from a day out with her daughter when the thugs fired eggs at her while she was waiting on St. Margaret's Road.
Her daughter told RTE Liveline that she worries what could have happened if her mother had been at the bus stop on her own.
She said: "It missed me but that was okay. She's fine. She got a shock. It was a bit upsetting for her. She had me. I was with her. I was able to stand up for her.
"Some other person might have been by themselves. It's inappropriate. I couldn't understand why someone would think that's funny."
Joe Duffy was shocked by the egging and pointed out that people can even lose their eyesight after similar attacks.
Rachel said that her mother is not afraid to leave the house after the egging as she has spent many months cocooning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said: "We will go out. We are not going to let this stop her. She spent two years of Covid doing all the right things. We were only starting to go places now. It's a shock to anyone's confidence."
A spokesperson for Ikea said they were not aware of the egging but would support gardaí in bringing the culprits to justice.
They said: "Ikea is not aware of any anti-social activity and was horrified to hear about what happened to this woman while waiting for the bus at St.Margaret's Road, Ballymun last Friday afternoon.
"If requested by the gardaí, our team is happy to assist them with their inquiries and will review CCTV footage located near the 155 bus stop to help bring the perpetrators to justice."
