RTE Liveline listeners hear Dublin delivery rider, who lost parents in Syrian war, make passionate plea to help find stolen bike

RTE Liveline listeners were moved by a delivery rider's passionate plea to help find his stolen bike.

Mostafa delivers food for JustEat and Deliveroo - but he has been out of work since his electric bike was stolen.

The black bike was stolen last Friday at 2pm from Dun Laoghaire.

The Syrian man is now worried that he will not be able to pay bills and rent as his livelihood had depended on the expensive bike.

The 25-year-old came to Dublin after his parents died in the Syria conflict and has been working hard ever since.

He told Joe Duffy that he now fears he may not be able to pay bills in Dublin after fleeing war-torn Syria several years ago.

He said: "I came to Ireland in 2015, I'm from Syria originally.

"I have no family here. I have been alone since I came to Ireland.

"I was looking for my bike all day. I was just doing JustEat.

"Sometimes I'd work six days to make money."

Mostafa works extremely hard to pay over €550 a month in rent and became an Irish citizen in recent years.

He told Joe Duffy that he has had several accidents while working for the food delivery companies.

Mostafa said: "Sometimes, I fall down on my arm. Sometimes, I'm okay. This happens.

"But I can't work on a normal bike. I have to have an electric bike."

Another caller added that his son's electric bike was recently robbed in Griffith Park in Drumcondra.

Thomas said: "My young lad, Jamie was coming home from school on 20 December through Griffith Park.

"He was coming home with his friend from school after finishing his exams.

"This guy we found out afterwards was following Jamie. He sucker-punched him, took a knife out, threatened him and took the bike from him.

"Jamie hasn't cycled since. His mother was bringing him to school for the last two weeks because we didn't have a bike for him."
